Wilmette Man Charged with Possession of Child Pornography

COOK COUNTY, IL – A 20-year-old Wilmette man has been charged with multiple felonies after investigators found he was in possession of multiple photos and videos of child pornography, Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart announced today.

On Wednesday, Jan. 3, Sheriff’s Police investigators assigned to the Internet Crimes Against Children Unit arrested Owen Taylor, of the 700 block of 10th Street, following an investigation of a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about pornographic images of children under the age of 13 found on a file hosting account.

During their investigation, investigators determined the account belonged to Taylor. A forensic analysis of Taylor’s cell phone found pornographic images of children on it.

On Friday, Jan. 5, the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office approved the following charges against Taylor: charges possession of child pornography, possession of video, victims under 13; possession of child pornography, possession of photo, victim under 13; possession of child pornography, possession of photo, and possession of child pornography, possession of video.

Taylor made his initial appearance later that day at the Skokie Courthouse where he was ordered released with conditions.

The public is reminded that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty by the government in a court of law.
